Canadian Suit.

I usually upload photos from the weekend when I'm a little more focussed on what I'm throwing on, but I thought as a change of pace, I'd pop up some photos of what I wear when I'm running errands and working during the week. I saw the glaring sun outside and I assumed it would be warm and radiant outside. It was not. It was a too cold to not wear a jacket, so I was pretty chilly all day.

Shout out to the blue sky that has been making an appearance in London recently - check out the exquisite reflection in the window!

Wearing: Cheap Monday Jeans, Esprit camisole, Zara denim shirt, Lovisa Necklace, H&M ballet flats.

I'll be out of London for the next 10 days, so until next time from Berlin!

Penguin Suit

The sun has disappeared behind the white sky again, so monotone Ellie has returned. I was getting really bored of covering up in long jeans and jumpers, so on Sunday I braved the cold in a thin pair of tights.

I was in DC over the New Year period, and I did a little shopping, where I found this jumpsuit. I have always been a sucker for jumpsuits - no matter how inconvenient they may be. This one was massively reduced, had a little peter pan collar and a transparent back so I was sold. The jacket is just from H&M - It was part of their Paris Fashion Week Autumn collection. I spotted it in the window at High Street Kensington in October, and didn't stop thinking about it so I ended up hunting it down in my size. It does nothing to shield my legs from the cold, despite it's long back, but I wear it all the time anyway. My sister says it makes me look like a Penguin - and I have to admit there is a certain resemblance...

Wearing: Zara Jumpsuit, H&M coat, All Saints Booties, Coach Satchel. I can't remember where I got my cream Beret from, but I think I bought it in Berlin about 3 years ago.

Also, as a little bonus, this photo was too good not to share:

Best way to express how ecstatic you are that the sun has returned? Monochrome.

I had a glorious Sunday in the park with my sister yesterday. We feasted on picnic food, walked around the lakes at Leytonstone, and read books and newspapers.  I had popped on some very casual clothes that I could peel off as it got warmer so I ended up being outside in just a t-shirt! Whodathunk. It was so sunny that I became one of many pasty Londoners who was basking in the sun and got sunburned.... This is the kind of think I generally wear when I don't have plans or just want to be comfy. I realise now that I was probably subconsciously inspired my one of my style crushes - Kate Moennig.

Something Borrowed...

These were taken at dusk last Saturday just as it started to get chilly. I was about to ride to my sister's local supermarket to pick up ingredients for my go to Laksa. I like to make it when I'm feeling unwell or when some part of my family is reunited. Saturday was a combination of both of these things. My hair was looking positively mullet-like due total laziness on the haircut front, so there aren't any closeups!

I'll be posting a few times this week, so make sure you check back to see a better groomed Ellie from a much warmer day!

Wearing:
H&M jeans, Tommy Hilfiger Chelsea Boots that I got at Macy's when I was in DC, Men's H&M hoodie, boyfriend's scarf, sisters Jacket, and Zara purse.

Rain Rain, Go Away...

I've kept my promise! At least for one week...  On Sunday I wore clothes that were totally inappropriate for the weather. I'm my mind, I thought that the start of Spring meant warmer, sunnier weather. Then I remembered I live in London. My sister snapped a few shots while we were out in Shoreditch on Sunday afternoon to satisfy a burger craving.

I found this blazer/coat at the Camden Markets a little while back. The lapel begins below the neck, and it is my favourite burned orange. It was only when I got home that I realised they were the exact colour of my favourite booties! I picked up my top from Zara on Saturday while having an impromptu catch up with a friend in Soho.

Wearing: H&M navy jeans, Zara blouse, Liebeskind scarf, H&M necklace (similar here), Zara satchel, Jacket from Camden Town, Earrings were a gift from my sister on her wedding day, while the helix earrings were both bought years ago in a jumbo packet for about $2.

Little Red Riding Hood

After a LONG time away from the blog, I've finally returned. I'm going to use every excuse in the book - Too busy exploring London, work, bad weather etc, but in reality, I became lazy and uninspired. I was throwing my big grey coat on top of everything I wore, and forgot to take photos even when I didn't. I'm writing in the sun today - it's 13 degrees, with a beautiful warm breeze.

So here we go again! I've decided it's also worthwhile having a little more structure to the blog. A friend of mine writes a great blog every Sunday which I always look forward to reading. So here's to at least one post a week - probably on a Monday.

I wasn't planning on starting up again so soon, so you'll have to excuse the camera phone quality. I accidentally went to Portobello Road markets on Saturday morning. I went for a walk around Notting Hill toward Lancaster gate - a walk I make a few times a week, but usually because I'm rushing between tube stations. I had no plan for the day, and walked wherever I fancied. I came across the back end of Portobello in all of it's Saturday Morning tourist glory. I walked through a vintage clothes section and a live music area that I didn't know existed. I was in the vintage section when I stumbled across a red chord cape that I immediately fell in love with. It looked like a grandfather's version of Lupita Nyong'o's now infamous Ralph Lauren dress. So I bought it. Hilariously, I couldn't use any of my usual bags with it because my arms were trapped under the warm restricting layers of red chord, so it also gave me an excuse to use a totally impractical bag that I bought from a flea market in PNG about 2 years ago.

H&M trousers, my favourite H&M maternity jumper, Aldo Boots, Vintage cape from Portobello Market, Vintage Bag, H&M beanie (similar here), Earrings and Scarf are both market finds from my wonderful mother.

This Little Piggy Went to Market...

I spent Sunday afternoon meandering around Spitalfields markets, where I bought an obscene amount of head scarfs. I've fallen in love with head scarfs and headbands since cutting my hair. They looks so cute and are perfect for those people like me who are way too lazy to do their hair every day. I eventually met up with my Sister and Brother-in-Law for further meandering and dinner. I only brought a very small bag with me, so I didn't have my camera. Please excuse the iphone shots!

It's amazing what a couple of leather straps can do...

My wardrobe is currently small enough to fit into a suit case due to my recent move, but the only shoes I seem to have packed are booties. In no way did this stop me buying another pair. I've been keeping my eye out of the perfect pair of black Chelsea style boots, and I finally found them at All Saints this afternoon!

Remove the buckles, et voila! Another look altogether. I plan on wearing them soon with a shift dress and my long tuxedo-esque coat from H&M.

But first - these babies need to be water proofed. London streets are calling!

Goodbye Sunshine!

Apologies for the lack of posts of late, it's been super busy with my sister's wedding, finishing work, and packing up to leave the country! My flight is in about 9 hours, so I can confidently say that this will be my last post from Brisbane. Hello to my new life in London!

These photos were actually taken about a week ago. It was the first and last day that I will straighten all of my hair now that it's short: it looked hilariously long and emo by the end of the day.

Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

Last Sunday I went out with a few friends for dinner, and left my camera behind. Never fear, an iPhone photo will appear! I've been very slack with posts recently, and I sincerely apologise. I blame my sister. She's getting married to her fab fiancé next week and I'm far too excited to focus on what I'm wearing.

Wearing Morange lipstick by Mac, Diana Ferrari jumper, Brick lane dress, Jacqui E scarf, vintage coach satchel and my favourite suede orange heels from a little store in Berlin.

Grey Gardens!

I was requested to do an outfit post that was inspired by Little Edie from the fabulous 1975 film Grey Gardens. If you haven't seen it, DO. Rather than making this a fancy dress post, I decided to take the idea, and morph it into an outfit that I would actually wear. I took the scarf, lipstick, and lack of pants that little Edie is famous for, and gave it my own twist.

The fabulous Little Edie in all her glory.

This is what I wore on Saturday! I didn't feel like it was appropriate to take photos for a Grey Gardens post outside in the open streets, so welcome to my cluttered garage.

Wearing: Jeans West Leggings, Zara top (transparency thanks to flash and my lack of editing ability), Lovisa necklace, Hallhuber scarf, H&M socks, Dorothy Perkins combat boots, and Ruby Woo lipstick.

My next request is Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush style. Please feel free to comment with some more requests!

Brown is Boring

I got this dress in my favourite shop in Berlin called Who Killed Bambi. I love their clothes and jewellery so much. They have quirky one off pieces that fit well, and last a really long time. I bought this on a whim about 2 years ago. I had left the house in the morning in my scungy old jeans and to find out that I was going out that night. For those playing along at home in Brisbane, the dress also featured in an advertisement for some university a while back...
I'm wearing it with my new Chelsea booties that I picked up from Midas last Thursday. I recently sold an old pair of brown chelsea booties but I missed them horribly so I had to replace them.
