This Little Piggy Went to Market...

I spent Sunday afternoon meandering around Spitalfields markets, where I bought an obscene amount of head scarfs. I've fallen in love with head scarfs and headbands since cutting my hair. They looks so cute and are perfect for those people like me who are way too lazy to do their hair every day. I eventually met up with my Sister and Brother-in-Law for further meandering and dinner. I only brought a very small bag with me, so I didn't have my camera. Please excuse the iphone shots!

It's amazing what a couple of leather straps can do...

My wardrobe is currently small enough to fit into a suit case due to my recent move, but the only shoes I seem to have packed are booties. In no way did this stop me buying another pair. I've been keeping my eye out of the perfect pair of black Chelsea style boots, and I finally found them at All Saints this afternoon!

Remove the buckles, et voila! Another look altogether. I plan on wearing them soon with a shift dress and my long tuxedo-esque coat from H&M.

But first - these babies need to be water proofed. London streets are calling!

Goodbye Sunshine!

Apologies for the lack of posts of late, it's been super busy with my sister's wedding, finishing work, and packing up to leave the country! My flight is in about 9 hours, so I can confidently say that this will be my last post from Brisbane. Hello to my new life in London!

These photos were actually taken about a week ago. It was the first and last day that I will straighten all of my hair now that it's short: it looked hilariously long and emo by the end of the day.

Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

Last Sunday I went out with a few friends for dinner, and left my camera behind. Never fear, an iPhone photo will appear! I've been very slack with posts recently, and I sincerely apologise. I blame my sister. She's getting married to her fab fiancé next week and I'm far too excited to focus on what I'm wearing.

Grey Gardens!

I was requested to do an outfit post that was inspired by Little Edie from the fabulous 1975 film Grey Gardens. If you haven't seen it, DO. Rather than making this a fancy dress post, I decided to take the idea, and morph it into an outfit that I would actually wear. I took the scarf, lipstick, and lack of pants that little Edie is famous for, and gave it my own twist.

The fabulous Little Edie in all her glory.

This is what I wore on Saturday! I didn't feel like it was appropriate to take photos for a Grey Gardens post outside in the open streets, so welcome to my cluttered garage.

Wearing: Jeans West Leggings, Zara top (transparency thanks to flash and my lack of editing ability), Lovisa necklace, Hallhuber scarf, H&M socks, Dorothy Perkins combat boots, and Ruby Woo lipstick.

My next request is Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush style. Please feel free to comment with some more requests!

Brown is Boring

I got this dress in my favourite shop in Berlin called Who Killed Bambi. I love their clothes and jewellery so much. They have quirky one off pieces that fit well, and last a really long time. I bought this on a whim about 2 years ago. I had left the house in the morning in my scungy old jeans and to find out that I was going out that night. For those playing along at home in Brisbane, the dress also featured in an advertisement for some university a while back...
I'm wearing it with my new Chelsea booties that I picked up from Midas last Thursday. I recently sold an old pair of brown chelsea booties but I missed them horribly so I had to replace them.

Sandstone building, sandstone clothing choices.

Yesterday I visited an old haunt for the first time in a while. My boyfriend and I had a few errands to run at the uni that we went to, and we decided to make an afternoon out of it. I wore my uniform oversized shirt with skinny jeans and booties. This was also the day after I threw out more than 3/4 of my wardrobe. The trunk of my car is completely full of clothing for goodwill, and and a few things are available for sale on my Facebook page and on eBay. I'm currently trying to cut down on my belongings so that they fit into a suitcase. I now realise that everything I've chosen to keep is brown or green. Stay tuned for very creative colour coordinated blog posts...

Ellie goes to the country side and wears inappropriate footwear.

I went on a day trip to beautiful Toowoomba today. Despite living in Brisbane for an extended period, my boyfriend and I had never been. He's heading back to Berlin in about a month, and I'll be moving to London not long afterwards, so we decided it was now or never. I clomped through Jondaryan Wool Farm and stupidly wore leather soled shoes

Did he Pinch?

Sometimes I like to get away from the berets and booties and wear something entirely different. Today was one of those days. Because of this decision, I nearly froze. During my four years living in Brisbane, I've become a wimp when it comes to the cold. Apparently 14 degrees means I need a big coat, scarf and a hat nowadays.

Foux du fafa

Jus d'orange, boeuf, soup du jourLe camembert, Jacque CousteauBaguette, mais oui!-Bret.

Despite the cloudless sky, the jacket wasn't a stupid idea today. I generally wear coats every day that I can in Brisbane. I have a bit of a stash from living in a colder climate for so much of my life, and it feels like a waste to keep them in the closet.

Moo Moo

Today was one of those typical Brisbane Winter Days. You thought it was cool, until you ended up spending a bit of time outside under the completely cloudless sky. I was wearing my favourite dress that I got at an emerging designers store on Brick Lane in London in January. It's by Chan Chan, and it's like a Moo Moo. You can wear it when you're going to EAT. You could probably wear it if you were 9 months pregnant, and no one could tell. The other reason why I love it so much is because of the asymmetrical collar.

I really went for comfort today. I bought my shoes on the same trip to London, and they do absolutely nothing to support your feet, but they are super comfortable. They may be better with cuffed jeans, but I just think they are too darn cute not to wear all the time.

Blue and Green Should Never Be Seen.

I've realised recently that I have accidentally started following weird little made up rules when it comes to deciding what I wear each day. I never wear grey with brown. I think toeless tights look silly. I never wear gold and silver together. I seldom wear leggings, and if I do it's only under a very long jumper. I ruffle the sleeves of shirt to my waist.

I generally follow my own instincts rather than the fashion guidelines that are dictated by someone on a fashion website or in a magazine. I loathe how people are expected to abide by rules that are actually just broad statements written on the internet. My own set rules make sense to me, but someone else could love wearing open toed grey leggings with a brown jumper and a mixture of gold and silver accessories.

The last picture makes me realise that I need to replace the thread that holds the buttons to my shirt...

Blush, Lace and Cat Eyes.

My new pair of sunnies arrived from Etsy yesterday, and I couldn't be more excited. I wore them on a very cloudy day to protect myself from the non existant sun rays. Was going to work today, so I wore one of my favourite comfy tops with a new skirt. I'm in love with the Ruby Jean Skirt, I think it will end up being one of those pieces I wear nearly everyday until it's ratty and torn.

Date Night

Second post for today! I went out on a date with my boyfriend tonight, and changed out of the shirt, shoes and blazer that I had been wearing all day.

Studded collar shirt from Zara, Blazer is a vintage Laura Ashley number that used to be my Mums, and shoes are also Cocovia Berlin. I love the orange colour and the heel is surprisingly easy to walk in!
